Student and or Staff Bible Study

For some reason CMU students have preferred to come to Bible studies at PITT, we invite students from CMU to come the the William Pitt Student Union across from the Cathedral of Learning. By bus get off at the Pitt Union on 5th Ave. and return back to campus by bus caught on Forbes Ave. There is a continuing Bible study in the 6th floor Cultural Center, Room 650, on Wednesdays at 12 noon to 1 p.m. On Thursdays, you may find us at the same place from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. If you are unsure, ask for the Campus Light Bible Study at the reception desk on 6th floor.

Should you wish a Bible study at the CMU campus or off campus, please call 724-548-4921.

Detail:

Why a Bible Study?

Recorded history establishes that eternity is real! It is commonly understood across cultures that there is life after the grave. The Bible plainly gives reasons for pain, suffering, and death. The Bible declares the reality of God, explains the intervention of God in history, and reminds us of the necessity of man to respond to admonitions for accountability through fulfilled prophesies, unrepeatable (by man) miracles, general and specific revelation.

What are the options for Bible Study?

A current popular topic deals with the issues of creation. Many do not know that there are significant and numerous evidences that the earth is not old, as many claim today. Numerous evidences are available in Astronomy, Geology, Chemistry, Anthropology, etc. Examples include radiometric dating such as carbon dating, uranium to lead dating, and radiometric halos to name a few. All of these show strong evidence of a young earth or demand explanations for what they show. History, sociology, and anthropology demand a Creator God and inviolate laws of morality and ethics. See how this impacts decisions of collegians for life.

Other studies may include "Why is Jesus the focus of Christianity?", "How does prophecy strongly prove the veracity of scriptures", "What are the characteristics of Believers?" "What benefits might be enjoyed by a believer?" "What is Biblically based spirituality?" "Why is the church God's only instrument for human religious, social and moral organization today?" We offer information nusing a timeline asking, "What does the Bible teach about events from eternity past to eternity future?" We also offer teaching for personal discipleship.
Some courses have prerequisite conditions.

Where will the Bible studies be held?

Room is normally reserved in the office space beside the University Center Chapel on the main floor of the building. There are options for individual and group studies. Recommended supplies include a Bible text (KJV is the course text), a notebook (either loose leaf or spiral bound), and a copy of E-sword, Online Bible, or like quality software mounted on your computer.

This web site represents the interests of Independent Baptist Churches and promotes Biblical Studies from a perspective of believing that the Bible says what it means and means what it says. The Bible is a work created by holy men of old who were moved by the Holy Ghost by inspiration. It is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for instruction, and for correction in righteousness. The Bible is not only inspired but is effectively the preserved Word of God for and to our generation. Its words are not to be taken lightly. It is not a concept Bible. Its very words are preserved in a verbal and plenary context. On all matters to which the Bible speaks, it is authoritative and without error.
